  • for utility disconnect for upgrades on the line side of any utility owned equipment. Working on the load side of any utility equipment without meter can upgrade DTE utility allows a licensed electrician to pull the meter to disconnect power on the load side without scheduling a utility disconnect. DTE requires a 24-hour call ahead letting them know of the work being performed and the date that the meter will be pulled so it does not alert a tampering alert on their end.
  • If the main service upgrade is staying at the same rated amperage as the current service, we do not need to do a meter spot or a meter can upgrade.

Site Plan Reqs

All Jobs

  • Inverter Model Number label must be simplified on Site plan (and every other page) as "SolarEdge SEXXXXX-US". E.G. "SolarEdge SE3800H-US" and NOT "SolarEdge USE7600H-USMNBL75". This is applicable to all inverters/micro-inverters (Tesla, Enphase, etc.)
  • AC disconnect to be on the same wall as the utility meter and within 5 ft.
SLD Reqs

SLD Planset Requirements:

  • Inverter Model Number label must be simplified on SLD (and every other page) as "SolarEdge SEXXXXX-US". E.G. "SolarEdge SE3800H-US" and NOT "SolarEdge USE7600H-USMNBL75". This is applicable to all inverters/micro-inverters (Tesla, Enphase, etc.)

Install Reqs

AC Disconnect:

  • Place AC disco at the PCC. It can be a pole top switch, load-break disconnect, etc., depending on the electrical system configuration. The isolation device shall meet the following requirements.
  • Must comply with current ANSI/IEEE Standards
  • Must have load break capability
  • Must be operable and accessible by DTE at all times.
  • The device will be used as a protective tagging point. Must have visible open break provisions for padlocking in the open position, and it must be gang operated. If the device has automatic operation, the controls must be located remote from device.
  • Shall meet OSHA, NEC and NESC requirements for access and arc flash
  • Must be clearly marked to include signage per the NEC
  •  Safety Switch must be mounted in close proximity to the metering equipment within 5 feet.
  •  Safety Switch must ONLY control the interconnected generation and/or storage

Clearances:

  •  Minimum 3-ft working space depth required in front of meter enclosure. This area must be clear of obstacles such as trees and permanently installed equipment
  •  Minimum 30-in wide working space required in front of meter (equipment) or width of equipment, whichever is greater. At all times, all hinged equipment doors must be capable of opening more than 90 degrees.
  • (a) Maximum of 6’-0” from top of meter enclosure to floor or final grade. (b) Minimum 3’-6” from center of meter face to floor or final grade.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with DTE Energy before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
