A salesperson at your door?

Don't sign a 25-year contract after a 25-minute pitch.

A rep knocked, dropped a quote, and made it feel urgent. Here is a free, plain-English second opinion from a solar engineer who has no stake in your decision. Put in the numbers from your quote and see what actually holds up.

    What they gloss over

The pitch, and the part they leave out.

    What you hear

"You qualify for a 30% government rebate."

    What's true

For systems installed in 2026 or later the federal residential credit is gone for cash and loan purchases. It ended Dec 31, 2025. Only leases and PPAs still capture a credit, and the company keeps it.

    What you hear

"Your payment is locked in and lower than your bill."

    What's true

Many leases and PPAs raise your payment 2 to 3% every year. Locked in the wrong direction.

    What you hear

"This price is only good if you sign today."

    What's true

No honest solar deal expires overnight. Urgency is a sales tool, not a fact about pricing.

    What you hear

"It's a no-cost loan, we cover the interest."

    What's true

The interest is usually baked into a higher price as a dealer fee. You pay it, just quietly.

    Before you sign

Five questions that separate a real deal from a rushed one.
