To participate in net metering, the BGE meter at your location must be capable of measuring the amount of energy we deliver to you and the excess amount you send to the smart grid. BGE will verify the type of meter currently installed at your location. If you have a smart meter, you will receive a Smart Net Meter. If you do not have a smart meter, you will receive an ERT (non-smart) Net Meter. The socket and meter are owned by BGE.
AC Disconnect is required to be readily accessible to BGE and cannot be contained behind a locked gate without a BGE approved lockbox.
An interconnection customer may elect to provide the EDC access to an isolation device that is contained in a building or area that may be unoccupied and locked or not otherwise readily accessible to the EDC, by installing a lockbox provided by the EDC that shall provide ready access to the isolation device. The interconnection customer shall install the lockbox in a location that is readily accessible by the EDC and the interconnection customer shall permit the EDC to affix a placard in a location of its choosing that provides clear instructions to EDC operating personnel on access to the isolation device.
