Net Excess Generation Notes

The Department shall bill a customer at the designated service rate if in any Billing period, the kWh consumed by the customer exceeds the kWh generated by the Net Metering Facility.

The Department shall credit the customer's account at the designated service rate if in any Billing period, the kWh generated exceeds the kWh consumed by the customer. Net metering customers will receive monetary credits to their electric account for their excess generation based on their class of service.

Upon the customer's request, for the billing period ending in March of each year (or at termination of service), any remaining credit balance in a net metering account will be returned to the customer by check. The customer charge, Net Metering Distribution Charge, and minimum charge associated with the customer's class of service will still apply.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with Holden Municipal Light Department before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
