Net Excess Generation Notes

Whenever the electricity generated by the Member’s distributed generation system exceeds the Member’s consumption, the Member shall be billed under residential tariff RS-8 for the Basic Facilities Charge for that billing period and credited for excess kWh generated during the billing period at Avoided Energy Cost, with this kWh credit appearing on the bill for the billing period.

In the event a Member develops a credit balance during a billing period, the credit balance will be applied to the next month’s billing charges.

Site Plan Reqs

Production Meter is required. Inv > AC > top of PM > POI

AC disconnect must be located outside as close to the utility meter meter as possible (6 ft max)

SLD Reqs

See "Design - Sample Line Diagram" in Files section of this page. If your system varies from requirements, attach a detailed one-line diagram of the proposed system including POI. Show electrical rating and operating voltages of service panel, disconnect switch, inverters, generators, circuit breakers, etc.

Customer installs the PM base. Utility installs the PM head.

Inv > AC > top of PM > POI

Production Meter must be wired TOP SIDE solar

Utility will accept multiple PV meters on site. This can be leveraged if we need to split up systems for ESS for example.

Electric Service Reqs

Customer must provide verification that the system is certified and in compliance with Underwriter’s Laboratory UL 1741 standards as “Utility Interactive” (or induction system standards). Installation should be done to NEC standards. Production meter, as well as clearly labeled disconnects, are required.

Install Reqs

Production Meter is required. Utility provides the PM base. It can be picked up from either Coastal office. Inv > AC > top of PM > POI. See "Design - Sample Line Diagram" in Files section of this page. Installation should be done to NEC standards. Production meter, as well as clearly labeled disconnects, are required.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with Coastal Electric Cooperative (GA) before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
