Utility Specific Adjustments

To ensure grid safety and reliability, sizing of the generation (in kW) will be limited to two times customer load up to 10 kW AC maximum.

Generation over 10 kW shall be subject to special review to ensure grid safety. Cost of studies and upgrades associated with generation over 10 kW will be established during the permitting process and paid prior to connection.

* A lockable FUSED disconnect device shall be installed between the alternate engery source and the Service Entrance Panel. Fuse Rating to match conductor ampacity. The fused disconnect must be within 10' of the Service Entrance Panel and must be accessible to the City at all times (include note on Site plan similar to APS utility)

* See "Placard requirements" attachment for additional placard requirements

* See "SLD Requirements" attachment for SLD requirements

* System size cannot exceed annual usage - for system sizes greater than 5KW, must show justification (for construction review - similar to NVE requirement)

* PV Modules must be included on the approved list www.gosolarcalifornia.org/equipment/pv_modules.php (http://www.gosolarcalifornia.org/equipment/inverters.php)

* Inverters must be included on the approved list www.gosolarcalifornia.org/equipment/inverters.php (http://www.gosolarcalifornia.org/equipment/inverters.php)

* PVWatts must be submitted for projects that exceed "minimal shading" (not defined by city)

* City/utility must have 24 hours unrestricted access to the solar equipment (similar to APS)

LINE SIDE TAPS ARE THE ONLY WAY WE CAN CONNECT OUR SOLAR TO THE GRID AHJ WILL KICK BACK PROJECT IF WE USE PV BREAKER.

Electric Service Reqs

1. CSI Annual kWh to not exceed customer's annual usage.

2. For new construction or if electric consumption history does not reflect expected expanded consumption, includes an electrical load estimate for PV system larger than 5kW ac. Suggested methods of substantiating a load estimate include an electric load calculation with corresponding equipment schedules. building simulation program reports, or detailed engineering calculations.

Install Reqs

All projects over 10kW require a feeder study, which must be completed before install approval has been issued.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with City of Ukiah before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
