2018 Setbacks with special considerations below:
Fire Pathways:
- Residential hip roof layouts: Each mounting plane greater than a 9.5° pitch (2:12) with PV modules installed needs a 3' pathway from eave to ridge. The pathway needs to be on a structurally strong part of the roof capable of supporting the live load of fire fighters.
- Roof access points shall be located in areas that do not require the placement of ground ladders over openings such as windows or doors and are clear of all overhead hazards.
Fire Setbacks
- Residential gable roof layouts: Each mounting plane greater than a 9.5° pitch (2:12) with PV modules installed needs two 3' pathways from eave to ridge.
- Residential hip roof layout (with valleys): Each mounting plane greater than a 9.5° pitch (2:12) with PV modules installed needs 18" setbacks on both sides of the hips and valleys where an adjacent mounting plane also has modules. If there are no panels on the adjacent MP (over the hip or valley), the 18" setback does not apply.
- These requirements do not apply to habitable structures with a pitch under 9.5° (2:12), or uninhabitable structures.

Preferred battery install outside.
- If batteries are designed inside the garage, per code, we are required to add heat detectors inside the garage, and smoke detectors (interconnected) inside the house.
- Bollards are required in front of the batteries if they are installed in the garage.

Preferred Tie Ins:
- Breaker tie ins (with Derates, if needed)
- Line Side Taps (Approved Taps: B-TAPS & POLARIS IT-350)
- Meter Lug Kits inside Utility Meter Can (This is only approved if the utility is not Oncor - Oncor does not allow us to tie into their meter can)
Emergency "Fireman's" Disconnects required (this includes Main Breaker Enclosures & AC Discos) at the Utility Meter outside if tie in is LST and the main breaker is NOT outside. We can perform the LST in (N) Disconnect. If MBE is needed, LST will need to be shown inside the MBE.
For one- and two-family dwelling units, all service conductors shall terminate in disconnecting means having a short-circuit current rating equal to than the available fault current, installed in a readily accessible outdoor location.
Include all subsequent parts in BOM. Meter can AND disconnect located outside (readily accessible).
Include the confirmation letter in the files section.
