Setback Notes: The AHJ follows a variation of the 2018 building code setbacks. Setbacks are determined at either 18" or 36" from the ridge based on the coverage of the mounting plane, not the coverage of the whole roof. Covering 33% or less of the mounting plane will require 18", covering more than 33% will require 36". For example, if one mounting plane is 10% covered by modules and another plane is covered 40%, the first mounting plane only needs an 18" setback at the ridge while the second plan will need the full 36" setback from the ridge. The AHJ requires the standard 2018 building code pathway requirements for first responder access: minimum 2 continuous pathways from the lowest part of the roof up to the ridge, one of those pathways being on the front or street side of the home.
