- Pathway Guidelines:
- Pathways must go TO and AROUND smoke/heat vents Cannot vent gap these
- If 2 story or more, cannot use lower story as part of the pathway
- If array area exceeds 22,500 sq ft, then 3โ intermediate pathway required to break up the array.
- If valley/hip used as pathway, 18โ required on both sides of hip/valley
- *Non-Exempt Fire Setbacks:
- A 36" setback is required on (3) sides of EACH ARRAY * BOTH sides of the ridge will need to show 36" setbacks.
- Exceptions:
- If the minimum qualifications below are met, you can then qualify for either exception 1 or 2. If any of the minimum qualifications are NOT met, then you must follow the Non-Exempt Fire Setbacks above.
- Is the roof slope greater than 2:12?
- Is the array area, per array, 1,000 sq ft or less?
- Is the array, per array, 150 ft or less in length or width?
- Is there an intersecting adjacent roof without a PV array?
- If the above qualifications are met, pick the appropriate exception based on total roof plan area. Roof plan area is defined as the flattened area of all roof planes sharing the same attic space (not pulled from Aurora, but pulled from AutoCAD)
- Exception 1_ : If the array is 25% or less of the total roof plane area, a 12" setback along each side of the ridge is required. No fire access pathways are required.
- Exception 2:_ If the array is greater than 25% of the total roof plan area, a 12" setback along each side of the ridge is required **__AND__** one 36" fire access pathway is required from ridge to eave over a structurally supported area. If either exception is selected, you must show the following on the site plan:
- Calculation reflecting being above or below 25%
- Dimensions of EACH array (length and width)
- Dimensions of perimeter of the home
