1) Hip Roof Layouts

• Provide a 3 ft wide clear access pathway from the eave to the ridge on each roof slope with photovoltaic modules.
• Pathway must be at a structurally strong location, such as a bearing wall.
• Exception: If adjoining roof planes provide a 3 ft wide clear pathway, this requirement does not apply.

2) Single Ridge Layouts

• Provide two 3 ft wide access pathways from the eave to the ridge on each roof slope with photovoltaic modules.

3) Hip and Valley Layouts

• Maintain at least 1.5 ft of clearance from a hip or valley if modules are placed on both sides.
• If modules are on one side only, they can be placed directly adjacent to the hip or valley.
