- add rapid shutdown device to disconnect schedule
ALL JOBS
- ESS Mounting detail required - Provide support details on the plans for the installation of the ESS (side view) with bracket(s) and fasteners (by size, type and placement)
- Remove any mention of specific battery type and rather just call out leader as "Battery"
- ON ESS ELEVATION - REMOVE DIMENSION FROM BOTTOM OF BATTERY TO GRADE (ONLY SHOW 3' IF AVOIDING BOLLARDS)
- Distance from Battery to Property Lines
- Provide data sheet indicating the fire-resistance-rating of ESS assemblies.
- ESS disconnect required within 6ft of MSP on same wall and not blocked by walls/gates/etc
- Batteries near the main entrance of the home must be moved or screened from public view.
NON-BACKUP
- INCLUDE NOTE ON COVER PAGE: [THIS BATTERY SYSTEM IS NON-BACKUP, AND THEREFORE THERE IS NO MICROGRID INTERCONNECTION DEVICE REQUIRED.]
BACKUP
- EV charger greater than 30a CANNOT BE backed up by Powerwall
- When utilizing a lug kit, provide a spec sheet including UL listing
- If utilizing a breaker in the MSP to feed gateway, we must include a breaker hold down kit & corresponding data sheet. See "Cutler Hammer Hold Down Kit" -or- SQD Breaker hold down kit" in file section below
- Provide panel schedule for main service panel and matching load calculations
- Provide details of rack storage arrangement and seismic support.
NO BATTERIES ALLOWED IN GARAGE
- For jobs that have already been installed, confirm with branch before relocating battery
Residential ESS Planning requirements: (REQUIRED ON ALL ESS PLANS)
Energy Storage Systems (ESS) located in garages:
Any Energy Storage System (ESS) installed inside a garage and placed on the garage floor shall maintain a minimum clear space within the garage of 20 feet x 20 feet. Wall-mounted equipment that occurs within the 20 feet x 20 feet garage space must be located a minimum of three and a half (3.5) feet clear above the garage floor and shall not impede vehicle parking.
Energy Storage Systems (ESS) on exterior walls:
Any Energy Storage System (ESS) installed on the exterior shall not be visible from the street. If this is not possible, the ESS shall be fully concealed from view by an existing solid fence or other solid screening element. If a new screening element is added, City Planning approval shall be obtained prior to building permit issuance.
Setback requirements for Energy Storage Systems (ESS):
All ground-mounted Energy Storage Systems (ESS) shall have a minimum setback of 10 feet from side property lines. Wall-mounted ESS may project halfway into the side yard per UDC 17.57.020(C) (ESS may project 2.5โ into a 5-foot side setback).
Remove any spec sheet not being used on an ESS project (I.E Any mention of Tesla Backup Switch for TPW3 projects)

ALL JOBS:
- If there are any empty spaces in the array that could appear to be a module, please draw an X through the hole. AHJ is unable to differentiate between modules/holes. See "Crossing Out Holes in Array" example in files.
- Label Property lines.
- Site Notes
Battery [EXTERIOR ESS UNITS WILL NOT BE INSTALLED WITHIN 3' (IN ANY DIRECTION) OF ALL WINDOWS, DOORS, AND HVAC VENTS // ESS UNITS WILL BE INSTALLED NO LESS THAN 3' FROM OTHER ESS UNITS // **36 IN WIDE EMERGENCY ESCAPE AND RESCUE PATHWAYS WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE CENTER OF THE OPERABLE PORTIONS OF ALL OPERABLE DOORS AND WINDOWS LOCATED ABOVE THE ROOF PLANE WHEN A SAID DOOR OR WINDOW IS BOTH SETBACK FROM THE EAVE AND SERVING A HABITABLE SPACE. WINDOWS SERVING VAULTED CEILING ONLY SHALL BE EXEMPT // NO ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE BATTERY INTEGRATED PV SYSTEM SHALL BE LOCATED ABOVE THE ROOF DECKING FOR THE FULL EXTENT OF THESE PATHWAYS]
for SE energy bank- dc disconnect as well as ac disconnect both need to be within 6' of msp
- Roof Plan
- Include leader "Roof Access Point"
- Show setback measurements on either side of the ridge rather than a combined measurement across the ridge. (e.g. mark 18 inches on both sides rather than a combined measurement of 3 feet)
THE LAYOUT OF EXISTING PV SYSTEMS NEED TO BE ILLUSTRATED AS INDIVIDUAL MODULES, NOT ONE BIG 'OBSTRUCTION'
Layout of modules needs to be replicated in Aurora before downloading DXF
- Roof coverage calcs must include any existing solar.

Ground mounted PV arrays must be kept min. 10-feet from property lines to provide min. 10-feet of 'brush-free area' surrounding the array:
CRC, 324.7.2:
"R324.7.2 Ground-mounted photovoltaic arrays. A clear, brush-free area of 10 feet (3048 mm) shall be required for ground-mounted photovoltaic arrays." This 10-foot setback must be completely on the property where the array is being installed.
Ground-mounted PV or PV systems installed on detached structures from the structure that contains the main service shall be provided with grounding electrode (CEC 690.47) and a disconnecting means (CEC 690.13) at the detached structure or ground-mounted array. (Disconnecting means to be shown on the electrical diagram.)
โ690.47 Grounding Electrode System.
(A) Buildings or Structures Supporting a PV System.
A building or structure(s) supporting a PV system shall utilize a grounding electrode system installed in accordance with Part III of Article 250.
PV array equipment grounding conductors shall be connected to a grounding electrode system in accordance with Part VII of Article 250. This connection shall be in addition to any other equipment grounding conductor requirements in 690.43(C). The PV array equipment grounding conductors shall be sized in accordance with 690.45."
