ESS Notes

• Battery projects require special placards
• ESS disconnect must be within 6 ft of the main service panel, on the same wall, and not blocked by walls, gates, or other obstructions
• ESS cannot be installed in direct sunlight or in temperatures exceeding 122°F per the installation manual
• Provide UL 9540 compliance documentation (or equivalent) showing the specific ESS model
• ESS disconnecting means must be separate from the PV system and located between the inverter and the ESS
• Provide structural design and construction details for ESS supports and anchorage
• When installed in a garage, provide impact protection per CFC
• A listed heat alarm must be installed where smoke alarms are not allowed and must be interconnected with existing smoke alarms per CFC
• Battery and lockable disconnect must be installed inside the garage
• Provide cut sheet for a CSFM-approved rate-of-rise heat detector
• Show heat detector location on plans
• Confirm heat detector is interconnectable with existing smoke alarms
